Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that Scarlett Johansson is like a full-on model!

First, the Louis Vuitton ads, now the L'Oreal Preference campaign as well... What on earth is Giselle going to do?

ScarJo For Louis

ScarJo for L'Oreal

On top of these massive paying modeling gigs, our girl Scarlett is also dating uber hottie comedian, Ryan Reynolds... life is SO unfair!

TGIF. Longest week in HIST. So I was recently introduced to online beauty retailer Kaia House, and am impressed with their philosophy (from their website):

Unlike most traditional beauty stores, we believe in bringing only the best of each brand to our customers and only carry products that are both Safe and Effective, as well as Animal and Environmentally friendly. Your health and well-being is a serious matter, and for this reason, we consult the internationally recognized Environmental Working Group and their Cosmetics Safety Database to verify the safety of each ingredient in every single one of our products. From this database, we created our own safety guide for your reference called the “Most UN-wanted List”, an extensive list of synthetic chemicals found in everyday products to avoid.

I tried out Juice Beauty's Green Apple Peel (Full Strength - I don't mess around) and am so into it. It's a powerful hydroxy-acid complex of apple, lemon, grape juices, raw cane sugar and white willow bark that exfoliates skin for visibly improved skin tone and texture. Vitamin antioxidants and essential nutrients hydrate and nourish fresh skin for a healthy, beautiful complexion. I slather the stuff on twice a week with the same zeal I once reserved for flirting with rowers while I was in college. Leave it on for 15 minutes and rinse off with a damp warm washcloth for best results. My skin was absolutely radiant (though makeup-free) all day afterwards. $39.

Enjoy your much-deserved weekend!

Love ya, mean it,
F
P.S. I hesitate to admit I got a 50% on Facebook's Mean Girls Trivia quiz. Have you taken it? It was really hard! I'm so embarrassed.

Vogue_1207It's the most wonderful time of the year.  Christmas time is upon us.  I'm so excited.  I will be spending Christmas in Spain, but that won't stop me from singing Christmas carols, humming to the music of the Nutcracker, and remembering that every year I am my father's own Fairy Tale Princess.  I just received my December Vogue and to see Penelope Cruz on the cover photographed in Madrid is getting me more excited for my trip.  I am starting to listen to Spanish language podcasts and music to help my language skils before heading out.  I need to learn something more than Ola, Gracias, and Besos.  It's Friday and here's what is happening in the world of beauty.

  • Nuxe is introducing a new seven-unit brand called Bio Beaute.  The line will have four of the oils for the face and three for the body.  The oils are used for anti-aging and moisturizing purposes.
  • Dolce & Gabbana will be releasing The One for Men in March.  The One for women smells divine and I can't wait to spritz this and see if I can wear it.  For some reason I'm really getting into men's fragrances.
  • Bath & Body Works is cutting out part of its prestige brands.  Here are the brands that are leaving:  DDF, Peter Thomas Roth, Korres, Juvena and The Savannah Bee Company.  I'm sad to see the Bee Co leave because I really have enjoyed their products.  To the web I go.
  • Dior's newest skin care line Capture R60/80 XP is using the power of stem cells to help repair skin and combat wrinkles.  It's a four piece collection including 2 face creams, eye cream, and 2 serums.  It will be introduced exclusively at Macy's NY this week.
  • 3Lab, the luxury skincare treatment line has new products coming our way, Perfect Repair Serum (a vitamin C treatment) to be released in April, and six new men's products for May.
  • Shiseido is releasing a post-menopausal product for women called Benefiance NutriPerfect.
  • Sephora is launching an exclusive line called on10 in February, which will include lip balms inspired by vintage artwork of classic candy from The Hershey Company, Dr. Pepper and Schweppes Ginger Ale.  (I am all over this).
  • Frederic Fekkai, him of Dolo's favorite glossing cream, has just opened a new salon in Dallas.
  • Pamela Hill, owner of Pamela Hill Skin Care in Colorado, will be releasing her skin care line in day and destination spas.
  • The Costume Institute gala at The Met in NY is May 5.  The theme is Superheroes:  Fashion and Fantasy.
  • Belli Cosmetics has expanded from moms to babies.  They have four new items for children - a hair and body wash (Calm Me), lotion (Nourish Me), talc-free powder (Pamper Me), and diaper rash cream (Protect me). I might have to pick up that lotion for my nephews and the wash for me.
  • GHD has partnered with the Intercontinental London Park Lane hotel to offer the use of hair appliances to travelers.  You can order items such as a styling iron with a free mini thermal protector from the Concierge.

I'm off to Houston tomorrow.  Have a wonderful and pretty weekend.  Besos and A Bientot and may the lip gloss be with you.

Today I salute my fellow bookworms. In search of a perfume that would smell like a just-printed-just-received-from-amazon tome (a little acid, crisp, almost clean in a way), like an old, old book found in an antique bookstore (dump and a little incensey) or as an library in general, preferably The Bodleian Library in particular (a little musty, a little dusty, a little leathery, old-worldly,

So, as most of the world is well aware, The Spice Girls have launched a reunion tour.

New Songs? NOPE. New Member? NOPE. Loads of Money? OBVI!

What completely gets me is the fact that people actually want to see the old Spice Girls lip syncing and shaking their cougar asses on stage!

Anyway, since this is a beauty blog, I thought I'd bring you this juicy bit of beauty info:

  • "Professional Make-Up Artist Maria Louise Featherstone, who is responsible for ensuring both Victoria Beckham (aka Posh) and Emma Bunton (aka Baby) look their best throughout the upcoming Spice Girls World Tour, has chosen Zoya polishes in a range of bright and fashionable, long-wearing colors for the tour. Look for Freja (gunmetal grey; pictured above), Lola (neon pink), Charisma (neon purple) and Roxy (purple glitter) on stage. Featherstone also stocked up on Zoya Anchor basecoat and Armor topcoat to ensure the girls manicures are perfectly maintained throughout the grueling show."

Fascinating, isn't it? So, if you're a Spice Girl fan, just dying to don the same nails as them, hit up the Zoya website (CLICK HERE) and shop it up!

If not, well, don't.

I'm just not in the MOOD today, you know? I'm on this really annoying "red carpet ready" diet this week for this black tie event I'm going to on Saturday and the fact that all I want to do is eat fries is really coloring my entire disposition. This week has been super busy at work followed by super busy night plans as well (all super-fun, obv, but tiring just the same. You know). Last night was no exception, I was invited to a champagne event with mini facials and makeovers at Space NK Apothecary on 99 Greene Street between Prince and Spring in SoHo. It was unbelievably fab. My friend Stacey invited me and some of her friends from college to attend the reception, thrown by a headhunter vendor she works with. Far too much champagne was consumed. I was provided with a guided tour of every single product in the entire store which carries such faboo lines as Nars, Bumble and bumble, Dr. Brandt, By Terry, and so many more. Should you want to take a gander, make sure my fave new friend Ivica is working. He's so phenom and we were born just ONE day apart. Can you even believe? We bonded over our love for products and disdain for un-clever packaging. They also have a great Nars makeup artist there from whom I learned SO many tricks. For instance: when applying a shadow as eye liner with a brush, grab a small mirror and look down at it in order to get the brush super close to your lashline. You're welcome. Should you have an event, he does great work. Wish I could remember his name. It's a free service as well, although you should purchase a product or two.

Anyhoodle, I tried out BY TERRY Baume De Rose SPF 15, a super hydrating, lightly glossy balm that is the lip balm equivalent of a cashmere sweater. Obviously the texture is nothing like a cashmere sweater, lest you picture spitting small fibers out of your mouth. No, no, that would be the opposite of phenomenal. Rather, it's faintly tinted with pink and is creamy and long-lasting. Love, love, love. Totally indulgent at $53 for 10oz, but it could make a darling holiday gift!

Melissa is hosting a faboo contest on her blog. Just tell her in the comments section what your favorite Young Adult literature topics are (fashion, love, fantasy, sci fi, siblings, friends...?).

She'll reward one lucky commenter (chosen at random from a hat, of course) with Lancome's Color Fever Gloss in "Seductive." The packaging looks like the image on the bottom, and the color looks like the swipe. Good luck!

Nail_aid_3n1The cold weather has everything that can be dry on me, dry like like the desert heat.  After a month working and going through numerous boxes, my nails took the beating of a lifetime.  At all my manicures they apply a nail strengthener, polish, and top coat and I leave with immaculate and groomed hands.  Well, it's taking a lot longer to get the grooming back in my life.  When I returned to my trusty manicurist she took one look at my hands and announced, loudly, "What happened to your nails?  They look like crap."  "Well . . . um, I know," I replied.  This didn't seem good enough.  After explaining my work situation she eased up a little.  Then pronounced "if you don't apply the Nail Aid like you are supposed to, how are your nails supposed to stay pretty."  Good point.  After two weeks, I can tell the difference in the hardness, texture, and length of my nails.  Nail Aid is available at certain Whole Foods or on their website.  Free shipping for 2 items or more and for only $6.50 a bottle.  My nails are looking like themselves, but I must find out what Ms. Erika is wearing in this photo.  The cranberry color is perfect for a Christmas party I will be attending on the 8th.
